Empowerment of women, particularly rural women has become an important focus area in the strategies of balanced development with social justice. Integrated Women Empowerment in all fronts of Social, Economic, Political and Cultural is anticipated to build a strong Nation. Empowerment of women is enhances both the quality and the quantity of human resources available for development. Economic empowerment results in women's ability to influence or make a right decision, increase self-confidence, better status and role in household etc.
To accelerate women’s equal participation and equitable representation at all levels in social, economic, political and public life in each community and society; SVADES promotes gender equality and empowerment of adolescent and women. Experience shows that population and development are most effective when steps have simultaneously been taken to improve the status of women.
SVADES formed rural women’s groups in 2001 in 20 villages with participation of nearly 1500 women. Capacity building training has been organized for Self Help Groups (SHG) and income generation activities like; Production of Brooms, Detergent Powder, Incense-Stick (agarbatti), Door Hanging (Toran), Vermin-Compost and Candles. Many such women have marketed their production and fetching good returns.
